Family Summer Photoshoot on Great Island, RI

One of the best parts of my job is getting to grow with the families I photograph. Recently, I was asked back by a family for a third year to shoot a session in the beautiful coastal town of Narragansett on Great Island. It’s always so much fun being able to reconnect with them and make some new memories.
Andrea, my contact for the family, styled the photoshoot herself and did such a lovely job choosing a color palette and coordinating everyone’s outfits. The blues and whites beautifully complemented this seaside shoot. Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of all the gorgeous spots Rhode Island has to offer, like this charming island just down the road from Galilee and Point Judith. We shot in the middle of the day, but since I work with natural light, I have found that the best time to shoot is early morning or at the end of the day. Finding shade was a bit of a challenge, but I am always able to find a way to get great shots no matter the conditions!
This family is always such a joy to work with, especially with all the children. I keep my style quite natural and raw, but whether candid or posed, I make it a priority to be sure that everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera. And these kids are pros! They are so much fun to photograph and always ask to do silly photos and a racing photo. Their relationship as cousins is very special and their affection for each other really shines through in every photo.
I love working with families and having the chance to capture so many special, intimate moments for them. Like these kids, I am also very close with my cousins and know just how valuable that relationship is and it brings me so much joy knowing they’ll have these memories to look back on together.
